HOPKINSVILLE, KY (December 1, 2009) – The public is invited to nominate candidates to receive Hopkinsville’s first Holiday Decoration Award. Recognition will be given in two categories: Best Decorated Residence will go to twelve private homes (one award per city ward) and Best Decorated Business will go to one business. Nominees will be judged on use of decorations, creativity and theme.

To enter or to nominate a home or business, complete a nomination form online at the city website (www.hoptown.org/agencies/beautification-commission) or phone in your nomination to the Mayor’s office at 890-0200.  Entries must be received by 5:00pm on December 7. Homes and businesses will be judged the week of December 7 and announced at the City of Hopkinsville downtown Christmas Tree Lighting Saturday, December 12th, 2009, 6:00pm, at Founders Square. Winners receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured in the December issue of the Kentucky New Era Keep It Clean Keep It Green.

The goal of the Holiday Decorations Contest is to recognize the efforts of Hopkinsville residents and businesses that encourage community pride and holiday spirit.
