Trail of Tears Landscape Project
Hopkinsville, KY: On Friday, May 15, 8:30a.m. at the Trail of
Tears Commemorative Park, Anne Casey, Director of the Hopkinsville
Beautification Commission, and Ramsey Morris, Trail of Tears Commission
Chair, will be presented a check for $12,700 from Alisia Rudd, of the
Altria Group, Inc.
The grant from Altria will be used at Trail of Tears Commemorative
Park, Pembroke Road, Hopkinsville, KY, to repair the Statue Garden and
Entrance Garden and create new landscaping by planting 72 new trees,
100 new shrubs and over 200 new perennials.
Volunteers will begin the landscape project following the presentation
at 8:30a.m. Workers can volunteer from 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. on Friday,
May 15, and 8:30a.m. until finish on Saturday, May 16. Planting will
occur rain or shine. The Altria Group will be providing breakfast and
lunch both days for volunteers. Tools are also available. Volunteers
