Holiday Decorations Contest

 2009 Ward 4 Winner

The public is invited to nominate candidates for the 2010 Holiday Decorations Award. Recognition will be given in two categories: Best Decorated Residence will go to twelve private homes (one award per city ward) and Best Decorated Business will go to one business. Nominees will be judged on use of decorations, creativity and theme.


To enter or to nominate a home or business, complete this nomination form online or phone in your nomination to the Mayor’s office at 890-0200.


Entries must be received by 5:00pm on December 4.

Homes and businesses will be judged the week of December 6 and announced during the Pennyrile Polar Express, Saturday, December 11th, 2010, 5:00pm, at the Pennyroyal Area Museum. Winners receive a certificate of recognition and will be featured in the December issue of the Kentucky New Era Keep It Clean Keep It Green.


The goal of the Holiday Decorations Contest is to recognize the efforts of Hopkinsville residents and businesses that encourage community pride and holiday spirit.

Q.     Do I have to be a Hopkinsville resident?
A.     To compete, your home or business needs to be in the city of Hopkinsville. However, anyone can submit a home or business in the contest.

Q.     When is the judging?
A.     Judging will occur the week of December 6.

Q.     When do I need my lights on for the judging?
A.     Lights need to be on each evening from December 6 through December 11. This applies to residential and commercial properties.

Q.     How are the home winners selected?
A.     Each member of the Hopkinsville Beautification Commission has an assigned city ward. By using their own preference, each judge selects the best decorated home in their section.

Q.     How are the commercial property winners selected?
A.     There is one award for commercial properties. A committee appointed by the Hopkinsville Beautification Commission will use their own preference to select the best decorated.

Q.     If I win, what award do I receive?
A.     Certificate of recognition and photo in the Kentucky New Era Keep It Clean Keep It Green page. This applies to residential and commercial properties.
