On February 20, 2010, the Hopkinsville Human Relations Commission and Hopkinsville Community College Minority Student Union will co-host the 19^th annual Black History Trivia Bowl.  The tournament will begin at 7:30am in the Auditorium Building at Hopkinsville Community College.  Over the years, this program has encouraged hundreds of middle and high school students from the surrounding area to reflect on our rich heritage by preparing for this day of friendly competition. 

Ten teams, each consisting of 4 players or more, have registered to participate in this year’s event.  The deadline for team registration is 5pm on Friday, February 12, 2010. Teams currently registered include:

Ø  All For One 4-H Club

Ø  All Nations House of Prayer

Ø  Christian County High School

Ø  Clarksville High School

Ø  Ft. Campbell Middle School

Ø  Greater Missionary Baptist Church (2 teams)

Ø  Kenwood Middle School

Ø  Northeast High School (Clarksville)

Ø  Rossview High School

The Trivia Bowl takes the form of a double elimination, quick recall tournament aimed at encouraging young people:

Ø  to gain a fuller understanding of the contributions of African-American communities to our nation’s growth and

Ø  to broaden their vision of the future.
