20th Annual Black History Trivia Bowl
On February 19, 2011, the Hopkinsville Human Relations Commission
and Hopkinsville Community College’s Minority Student Union hosted the
20th annual Black History Trivia Bowl. The tournament began at
8:30am in the Auditorium Building at Hopkinsville Community
College. Over the years, this program has encouraged hundreds of
middle and high school students from the surrounding area to reflect on
our rich heritage by preparing for this day of friendly
competition.
Ten teams participated in this year’s event. Teams included:
- All Nations House of Prayer (2 teams)
- Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church
- Greater Missionary Baptist Church
- Mahaffey Middle School(2 teams)
- Northeast High School
- Paducah Middle School
- Wassom Middle School (2 teams)
HRC chair and event chair, Corey M. Wadlington remarked, “It’s always a
pleasure to see our youth display their talent in an atmosphere that
calls for more than athletic ability.”
The Trivia Bowl takes the form of a double elimination, quick recall
tournament aimed at encouraging young people:
