SUBJECT: Acceptance Rules for CITY-TV Announcements

On Friday, November 22, 1996, the Hopkinsville Cable Television Oversight Authority adopted the following policy regarding screening of public announcements to air on CITY-TV:

CITY-TV will run public service announcements from recognized governmental agencies, civic or religious organizations, churches, and public and private schools. The announcement must be submitted in writing on organization stationary at least two weeks in advance of the event. The announcement must contain the name and telephone number of an organization officer who is knowledgeable of the announcement and can answer questions that may arise. CITY-TV will not be used to advertise commercial products or services.

This replaces a temporary policy instituted by the City Clerk’s Office that restricted announcements and notices to only those from governmental agencies and non-profit organizations financially sponsored by City or County government.
