Mayor Kemp Continues Community Conversations
Mayor Dan Kemp invites you to participate in the next Community
Conversation on Monday, March 14th from 5:15 until 7:00 p.m. at
Millbrooke Elementary School. Mayor Kemp wants to meet one-on-one
to talk about what matters most to you – whether it's a neighborhood
problem, community-wide concern, or suggestion for making Hopkinsville
an even better place to live.
During the event, the community is also welcome to enjoy light
refreshments and preview a dress rehearsal performance of the musical
Jungle Book by Millbrooke Elementary School’s 5th grade under the
direction of music instructor Christine Gossett.
Courtesy of the City of Hopkinsville’s Parks & Recreation Division,
two lucky attendees will receive a pair of season passes to Tie Breaker
Family Aquatic Center scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend.
Attendees must be present to win.
This is the second of five conversations to be held this year as an
initiative of the Christian County Cares 2015 community engagement goal
of the local vision plan. Despite cold and snowy conditions,
dozens of individuals attended the first Community Conversation held in
January at North Drive Middle School, the City of Hopkinsville’s
Partner in Education. Mayor Kemp remarked, “I look forward to
meeting with the public and discussing ideas to enhance our community
and to continue delivering the best services possible.”
In addition to meeting personally with the mayor, the public will have
the opportunity to ask questions of representatives from twenty-two
departments, agencies, and public service providers and to learn more
ways to become involved with a Christian County Cares 2015 goal
committee. Among those groups scheduled to join Mayor Kemp in
this round of Community Conversations are:
Hopkinsville Police, Fire and Ambulance Services, Public Works, and
Administration Departments as well as Hopkinsville City Council,
Christian County Public Schools, Hopkinsville Community College,
Christian County Health Department, Christian County Clerk’s office
(voter registration), Christian County PVA, Community and Development
Services, Emergency Communications Center, AT&T, Atmos Energy,
Hopkinsville Electric System, Pennyrile Rural Electric, Hopkinsville
Solid Waste and Recycling Center, Hopkinsville Water Environment
Authority, NewWave Communications, Surface and Stormwater Utility, and
Christian County Cares 2015.
In a continued effort to reach all interested citizens, additional
Community Conversations will be held at various locations throughout
the community. Additional gatherings will be held throughout the
year from 5:15 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. as outlined below:
May 9th Belmont Elementary
School
September 12th Hopkinsville Middle School
November 14th Indian Hills Elementary School
If you can’t attend, don’t worry. Mayor Kemp still wants to hear
from you. You are encouraged to submit your comments online at www.hoptown.org/community or call
us at 890-0200.
