Elected in November 2006, Mayor Kemp holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and History from Murray State University and a Law Degree from the University of Kentucky.   Before running for public office, Mayor Kemp practiced law in Hopkinsville for 32 years and served in many church and civic volunteer positions.  He is a member of First United Methodist Church, where he is in the choir.  He is married to Henrietta Kemp, who is a retired educator and active community volunteer.  He has five children and six grandchildren.
