Fire Department Pulls Double Duty Wednesday
November 14, 2007 - Firefighters battle house fire on Hayes Street & a car fire on Fort Campbell Boulevard on Wednesday morning.
The Hopkinsville Fire Department was torn in two different
directions Wednesday morning when a house on Hayes Street and a car on
Fort Campbell Boulevard both caught on fire at the same time.
Firefighters battled a blaze around 11 a.m. at 715 Hayes Street for
over an hour.
The cause of the fire, which began in a bedroom, is still under
investigation, said Deputy Chief Eric Bleidt.
“There was substantial fire damage to the room of origin and smoke and
heat damage throughout the rest of the house,” he said.
No one was injured during the blaze.
At the same time, another group of firefighters arrived to fight a car
fire at a parking lot near Lic’s Deli & Ice Cream Shoppe on Fort
Campbell Boulevard.
Firefighters took 20 minutes to extinguish the car, which was destroyed
by the fire.
