The Hopkinsville Police Department will be conducting its Ninth Annual Citizen’s Police Academy beginning Thursday, April 21st 2011.  The ten week long course highlights the activities of the department and gives the public a chance to see what the department does on a daily basis. The classes are taught by members of the department, which gives the class members a chance to meet officers in a positive environment. The classes are held one night a week and topics covered include patrol, investigations, K-9 demonstrations, and firearms, just to name a few. Each class participant may also attend a Saturday live fire exercise at the department’s firearms range. The class culminates with a graduation ceremony and meal, with certificates awarded to all that complete the course.
