COMMENDATION
Officer Kermit Yeager was hired as a police
trainee with the Hopkinsville Police
Department in June, 1972, was promoted to
patrol sergeant in 1977 after having served
as an undercover drug officer and as a detective.
Officer Yeager was promoted to patrol
captain in 1980 and was then promoted
to the rank of major and patrol commander
in 1992 in which position he served honorably
until retirement after more than
twenty-eight years of service on August 31, 2000.
Officer Yeager was rehired as Hopkinsville
police chief on February 18, 2003 and is
retiring on February 29, 2008 after five years
service as chief, making a total of thirty-
three years active service as a police officer
and police chief in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
The citizens of Hopkinsville owe Chief
Kermit Yeager a great debt of gratitude
for his steadfast dedication to duty and
service to Hopkinsville and Christian County, Kentucky.
