Funeral Saturday for Former Police Officer
Roger Robinson, a former Hopkinsville police officer who survived a
shooting in the line of duty in 1995, has died of apparent natural
causes at his Crofton home. He was 45.
A family member found Robinson dead around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a
spokesman for Hughart and Beard Funeral Home said.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughart and Beard Funeral
Home, Hopkinsville. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home.
On Nov. 1, 1995, Robinson and fellow Hopkinsville Patrolman Cary Hayes
were shot after stopping a car for a driver’s suspected drunken
driving.
Hayes, who is now retired, later returned to active duty. Robinson,
who suffered a shattered bone in his right arm, could not return to
active duty with the Hopkinsville Police Department.
Robinson was employed by the police department from April 22, 1991, to
March 31, 1997.
