Chamber Holds Community Vision Plan Renewal Breakfast; Posts CVP Renewing the Vision Action Report
The Community Vision Plan hosted a breakfast for community leaders on May 4 at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. The breakfast was held to roll out the Renewing the Vision Action Report. The report can be found by clicking Renewing the Vision Action Report. Market Street Services, an Atlanta based research firm, presented the action report to local elected officials and leaders from business and industry. The renewal of the Community Vision Plan follows a five year effort began in late 2005 to make Hopkinsville and Christian County more economically and academically stable and to build the overall quality of life in the community. After much success and continuing progress, local leaders and community members are back on board the path to progress with a renewed sense of energy and urgency.
"Thanks to so many different organizations and individuals, we have a lot of great things going on in our community. The renewal of the Community Vision Plan will allow us to sustain and build on that positive momentum. It will allow us, as a community, the opportunity to pull the same rope in the same direction -- towards economic, social and cultural progress for all of us," Circuit Judge Andrew Self, Goal One Committee Chairman, expressed.
"A crucial factor is to get more people involved throughout the community if the initiatives are going to be taken to the next level. Whether someone agrees or not with every aspect of the plan, with so many objectives someone can find an area to get involved. The community cannot rest on the moderate successes to date. It must trudge forward," Taylor Hayes, Kentucky New Era Publisher, said.
The time to act is now. The Community Vision Plan is a cooperative effort from all citizens of Christian County and must be approached and handled that way. The Steering Committee for the Community Vision Plan invites all citizens to review this plan and give your feedback - it is essential.
