These interns have completed the program in years past. Take a minute to see what they have been up to since then. 

2009 Interns

Samara Boswell (SW – Police Department) – A sophomore studying Exercise Science at the University of Louisville, Samara says “This program is a great experience. I have learned a lot about the police department and how it functions on a day to day basis. I would definitely come back to work next summer!”

Rachel Ganley (SIC) – is a senior at Hopkinsville High School.

Luke Jean (SW – Administrative Department) –  A freshman studying Theater Tech and Design at Western Kentucky University, Luke says “This program has taught me so much!  Not only have I learned how an office operates, I have also learned time management skills as well as gaining the opportunity to hone my computer literacy.  I have gained the knowledge of the benefits of professional partners and how to make them; this skill will serve me well in my future endeavors.  I would like to thank the City of Hopkinsville for giving me this chance.”

Jasmine Kale (SW – Police Department) – A freshmen at Hopkinsville Community College studying Business Administration, Jasmine says “This intern/summer program was a great experience. If I was given the opportunity again I would truly take the chance.”

Malcolm McDuffen (SIC) – is a senior at Christian County High School.

Micheal McDuffen (SW – Police Department) – A sophomore studying Exercise Science at the University of Louisville, Micheal says “This was a good program. I learned a lot.  If I was coming home next summer, I would do it again.”

Evarsha Parker (SW – Police Department) – A sophomore studying Criminal Justice at Brown Mackie, Evarsha says “The Program has taught me a lot of things that will be really helpful when I get in the field I’m in. Everything I’ve learned, I will be able to use for the rest of my life. From paper work to warrants, I have learned a lot.”

Stephanie Radford (SIC) – is a senior at Christian County High School.

Caitlin Sydnor (SW – Administrative Department) – is a freshman studying marketing at the University of Kentucky.

2008 Interns

Daimeon Cotton (L) – A second year law student at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan, Daimeon says “One of the greatest things about the program is the practical experience I have learned.  This was tremendous for law school in that it gave me the fundamentals of how to research and present information.  It gave me a chance to work with a group of professionals and allowed me to learn how to conduct myself in this setting.”

Brittney Hesson (SIC) – A Business Management/Entrepreneurship major and sophomore at Murray State University, Brittney says "This program provided so many learning experiences. The skills I learned working helped me land another great internship at Murray State University."

Kayla Lily (SIC) – A sophomore studying agriculture at Hopkinsville Community College, Kayla says "The SIC program really gave me a better understanding of how the city works, and I gained a lot from the experience."

2007 Interns

Whitney Abernathy (SIC) – A sophomore at the University of Louisville, Whitney says “The Summer in the City Internship helped me by giving me the opportunity to make connections with different people as well as to be able to see what goes on, first-hand in city government. It has made me more aware of what goes on in my community and has made me want to give back to the City of Hopkinsville and Christian County.”

Bonnie McCullagh (SIC) – is a junior studying Investigative Bio-technology and History at the Western Kentucky University.
