“Ready to Read” Parent Pledge

The Christian County Literacy Council invites you to join us in ensuring that all children enter our schools “Ready to Read”  by reading and signing the following pledge:

Recognizing that:
 
•    I am/we are our child’s/children’s FIRST and MOST important teacher/s
•    The brain develops most rapidly from birth – age 4
•    Children learn words/vocabulary by interaction with adults who talk and read to them on a daily basis.
•    The social-emotional security that I provide my child when reading books is critical for him/her to be able to learn more easily
•    By reading regularly with my children during their preschool years, I am/we are giving them the biggest boost toward a successful education they will ever get

I hereby pledge that I will spend a minimum of 20 minutes reading daily to/with my child/children.
